The Real Deal

Our latest video is now online. You can view it by clicking either on the image above or here.
Even though we are apparently the only family to have been expelled from the school, it is becoming apparent, the more people we talk to, just how many others have had to leave through being marginalised when trying to achieve representation for issues that were affecting their children in the school.
This video shows just one family’s experiences, but there are many more. We have hidden the identity of the contributing family at their request, and we will continue to do this for anyone who wants to testify here anonymously. We are already working with other families, in the same fashion, who have stories to tell.
One thing that was particularly interesting is how many immigrants appear to have fallen foul of the dynastic power structures of the school. This is relevant to us as we are preparing a residency application and have now found that this may be jeopardised through the aggressive actions of the school towards us because of our concerns about bullying. There are outstanding trespass orders on us.
We will be turning our attention to these matters in future postings and videos, to work out how to get the school to be reasonable and remove these. So far, they have only offered to attend a mediated meeting to try to work out a way to take off the trespass orders as long as we agree to sever all relations with the school.
That was an attempt to neatly turn our predicament to their advantage and overlook the fact that the trespass orders are only there because we had to protest about the outrageous treatment of our children. We did not agree to those terms, but will look for other ways to persuade the school of the necessity to lift the trespass orders and make proper reparation for their ‘mistakes’.
The testimony of others serves to highlight the fact that we are not alone, and that even though many current parents at the school seem to complacently dismiss our situation because their kids are OK, even that tendency to complacency has been reported again and again by others.
If there is truly to be a sustainable future, including a High School, there will need to be a more authentic and moral idea of Community, that does not allow some, or even one child to be abused, just because most of them seem to be OK at the moment.
We are prepared to allow our situation to become more public to help to bring this about. Indeed, as an issue of Human Rights, that justifiable complaints about behavioural issues, bad management, and school bullying, should not threaten our leave to remain in the country, we will be seeking as much input, representation and public support from many sources as we can get!
When looking at the video, please be aware that the silhouetted figure is not just for effect - this is a school community where people are actually afraid to speak out. Surely this is not a suitable environment in which to practise the humane philosophy of Rudolf Steiner?
As the new term approaches, complacency will sigh with impatience as the realisation dawns that we have not slunk away defeated. On the contrary, we will be beginning many new initiatives in this struggle for simple decency, including promotion of this website, social media, more videos, including interviews with other families, public coverage of our legal ‘journey’, creative protests, making this situation much more widely known generally, as well as in the International Steiner Movement.
We urge all who read this to support the re-instatement of our innocent children at this school and prevail upon all school entities to cease this autocratic stance and become the open, transparent, sustainable school community that will take the school forwards into the 21st Century.
